Majestic Natural Beauty

Serving the metropolitan area and beyond, we are stone cutters & marble workers. Essentially we are carpenters for stone. We directly import our stone from all corners of the earth and bring it to our yard in Staten Island, NY. Clients can then browse these stones and select the exact piece of the slab that they desire for their project. The beauty of buying from our stockyard quarry is that you don’t have to buy the whole slab, you can purchase what you need. Essentially you don’t have to buy the whole pie, you can just order a slice or two.
Difference of opinion can vary, but we feel that upon commencement of your project the first material that you choose should be your stone color. The materials that you pick for your countertop and backsplash can really make or break the whole look and design of your space. Consider that most stone is made by Mother Nature billions of years ago and cannot be changed. On the contrary, cabinet colors and porcelain floors are man-made and can be tinted to almost any color desired. In our opinion it is much easier to match the man made items to an already selected beautiful natural stone.

Rock Solid Durability

Once your stone is chosen, we will come to your job site and digitally template your project with our state of the art template machine. This machine will ensure that we have the proper dimensions for your project.
After measurement we will transfer your digital file to our world class GMM CNC Bridgesaw to begin the fabrication process in our shop. Once your job is completely polished and finished we will load it on our trucks and bring it to your job site for installation. We try to make it very easy by keeping you on the island for one stop shopping. Please remember if you don’t find what you’re looking for in our stoneyard we can still purchase materials from other suppliers in the metropolitan area and cut them for your project.

Slide Our Story

Joe Pietrangelo Sr. was born in Vinchiaturo, Italy into a large family of stone masons. In fact the surname ‘Pietrangelo’ translates to ‘Stone Angel’ or ‘Angel of Stone’ in Italian. Leaving Italy 3 years after the end of World War II, Joe Sr. and his family left for Buenos Aires, Argentina for a better life. Working as a cement and stone contractor in Patagonia, Joe Sr. built homes for coal miners. Sixteen years later in 1964, he went to apply his talent in New York City.

Joe Sr.’s talents and work ethic were noticed by others, and his career soon picked up. His immediate jobs included working on a renovation at the Statue of Liberty and pouring a foundation for the P.S. 23 elementary school in Richmondtown. One day while building a retaining wall on Richmond Terrace he noticed that the property of one of his stone suppliers was for sale. Joe Sr. eventually saved up enough money to purchase what is now our shop at 1696 Richmond Terrace Staten Island, NY. The site was the old Terranova marble and ceramic shop that had been in the Richmond Terrace area since 1900.

With hard work Joe was able to bring the run-down building back to life. Transitioning away from exterior cement, blue stone, and paver work, he slowly began to work with travertine, marble, granite, and eventually quartz and quartzite for interior projects.
Since he was born in Italy and raised in Argentina, Joe Sr.’s multilingual knowledge helped him make the right connections in the business and he began importing stone from all over the world. Visiting stone fairs, factories, and quarries in Italy, Brazil, and Argentina, Joe was able to buy direct and cut out the local New York middlemen stone suppliers. Instead of having to buy marked up imported stone from warehouses in the metropolitan area, Joe could now circumvent these suppliers and buy direct, saving the consumer money and waste.

All of this has accumulated to over 65 years of experience in the stone industry, with over 50 years alone in Staten Island.
In 1998, Joe Sr.’s son Joe Jr. Started studying business at Wagner College, and began training to work at the family business, working alongside his father and eventually taking the reins when Joe Sr. retired to enjoy his grandchildren in 2012.
